Yummy!

Nico is eating more and more foods with flavor. He is very interested in the things that we eat and prefers our plates to his on most occasions. Look at our happy eater!!

Time to Treasure

Nico and I have had a nice long holiday together. I am enjoying hanging out with him. My niece has been with us for the past few days and I think we have all had our share of tween tv. So today we grabbed my sister and we all headed out to Mt Vernon to see the home of George Washington. We had a good time (not as great as when we saw the home of Frederick Douglass), we toured the house, the grounds and saw the beautiful view of the Potomac. The real downside to the day is that it was cold! Brr! I wore Nico so our body heat was a nice little furnace. It was so cold that no one was feeling very photogenic but hey there is a little proof that we hung out there today.

'Twas the night before Christmas

And Nico is up at 10....showing no signs of going to sleep!

He is busy visiting with his cousin Jamie.

His belly is full, topped off with a few bites of sweet potato pie.

He has played with all of the gift packaging stuff, hope he likes his gifts just as much.

He is feeling comfy in his new jammies, thanks Z.

Just a wonderful night before Christmas, can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Lucky Number 13!!

Nico is 13 months old today. He decided to wake up at the crack of dawn so he wouldn't miss a second! My beautiful baby boy is making big strides...his footing is getting a lot more stable and he is walking more and more. This means you can find him exploring every inch of the house putting his little mark everywhere. He is so aware of his world, he is understanding more commands and ignoring his parents better than most teenagers. We love him more today than yesterday...who would even think that was possible?

this is how he spent his day:

waking up and being the coolest, most chill 13 month old

playing in his car and deciding that he can get out any way he wants to

having his first grilled cheese sandwich and looking like he likes it!

the best thing about snow days

Is spending even more time with N! Things that he has been up to since we have been snowed in:

* he moved a box to the table when no one was looking, climbed on said box and promptly spilled his Daddy's huge cup of ginger ale. Guess he was ready to get out of those pjs!

* saw he his Daddy give me a kiss and started pointing at me and gave me a kiss too- smiling all the time

*pulled every ounce of clothing I folded to the floor before I could get them put away

*turned up in all sorts of places when I thought he was some place else

* woke up at the crack of dawn just to make sure it feels like a normal work day

*played around very close to the covered wall outlets, just to make sure we know he notices those types of things

*picked up this strange habit of scooting around on the hardwood floors kicking his legs behind him, don't try to help him because he is definitely not stuck or in need of assistance

*decided he pretty much loves sleeping in his crib at night, he gets right in it no problems

Yeah, I am enjoying my N time! Try not to be too jealous when he wakes up in a few short hours and you are sleeping in :P

Snowy Day!

So we bundled Nico up...layers upon layers...and took him outside to enjoy the 2 ft of snow. It was a few minutes of fun and I am not sure that he knew what to make of it all. He tried to walk, he tried to crawl but mostly he just smiled a lot! Yes, I wish I could be uploading pictures of a day at the beach but we aren't that fortunate :P

Tub Time

Nico is out of the baby tub and into the big but not full size tub. I think he likes it!

dare i say

we have a walker!!! yay! he is officially a walker. last week he was making some steps but this week he is really putting it all together. yes, he waits until his grandparents head home before he decides to walk but hey i bet they won't hold that against him. so the upside is we have a walker and well the other side of things is....he is a smart walker. the minute he hears the video camera noise he stops walking and motions for the camera. it will have to be a survivor moment (you know...outwit, outlast etc.) before i can get him on film. it is coming though.

Shots & Snow

Today was the first snow of the season. It was also the day that N had to get the second part of his seasonal flu shots. He fell asleep on the way to the drs office and I literally took him out of his carseat, he got his shot, he gave a small yelp and we were on our way. Phew, he didn't cry and neither did I. On our way home from the drs, the snow started falling. N did not seem too interested in the snow. He did enjoy watching it from his window. I meant to take a picture of him sitting in his wagon and looking out the window. He looked like a little old man. Too cute.

Happy 1st Birthday!!!

Dearest Nico,

Today is your big day. I can't believe that you have only been here for a year because you have changed me in countless ways. I am in awe of you my sweet, sweet baby. I have no idea what the future holds for you but I want you to always know that you are loved.

When you made your wee bit early entrance last year, I felt so many things: overjoyed, scared and hopeful to name a few. But so many things came natural to us. You learned how to latch on and feeding has never been hard. You sleep when you are tired. Your will has been my guide and I feel blessed to be able to help you through this life. You are truly a dream come true and every single day is a new adventure.

It feels very bittersweet to watch you grow and change. You don't need me in that new baby way. You have a newfound independence--- not quite walking but you are the fastest crawler I know. You have even mastered sleeping in your crib. Momma, is pretty happy about that one.

I know you hear it so much but we love you so much Nico Pico!!!

Nico loves to imitate us. It is the funniest thing. D and I get such a kick out of watching him take it all in and spit it back out. He picked up snapping by watching his Daddy. I wonder what he will start to do next. Guess we have to really watch ourselves or else we might have some explaining to do.

Parker's Partay!

Nico had a ball at Parker's Party!! There were just so many toys to keep him entertained. Parker's guests were so nice to Mr. Nico. Nico even made a cameo in Parker's birthday slide show. What a fantastic day to celebrate with a friend.

Baby Fever and NOT the good kind.

Nico had an awesome first Halloween ( I will add pictures soon). He went Trick or Treating with his big cousin R and her friends. He enjoyed looking at the costumes. I think he was trying to figure out why the neck these kids looked like this....devil horns, wings and cloaks are not his idea of the norm. He didn't get to partake in any of the candy treats but he didn't seem to mind munching on his puffs :)

Halloween night was great but it wouldn't be Halloween without a scare, right? Nico woke up that night feeling hot and being miserable. He couldn't seem to get comfy and he would only sleep for thirty minute stretches before waking up and being miserable all over again. He didn't want Momma or Daddy to hold him and he looked so sad. And w/ the time change we got to even have an extra hour of this insanity, oh the joy. So our Sunday was filled with temperature taking and alternating medicines. Yeah, it was pretty sad! At one point his fever was higher than 102 degrees. Yikes! Well I am happy to report that as of right now Monday at noon his fever has broken and he is peacefully sleeping next to his Momma. Baby fever stinks!!!

Halloween Eve

Nothing spooky about this little one! Nico's daycare is celebrating the holiday, but Nico wanted to save his costume for the real day. He is just as happy to be sportin' his ghost bib. Spooktacular baby!!

Party Time

Today Nico went to Toby's second birthday party. He had a great time. He was the only crawler there but it didn't stop him from having a blast. Yeah, he probably would have had a better time if he could have had some birthday cake but he did get to try the smallest piece of pizza ever so it wasn't all bad. He even got to see his buddy Parker. Parker's party is the next one on Nico's social calendar. It was good to see him and see his new walking moves. These boys are growing up too fast. I don't think a year has ever passed as quickly as this past year has flown.
