On Saturday for our Family Day outing we went to lunch at a cool spot in DC called Matchbox and then we went to visit the Frederick Douglass House in DC and we had the best time ever. I mean hands down, our tour was awesome. Just phenomenal. Hs life is such an inspiration to all people. I can't wait to share his story with N when he is old enough to appreciate it. In between napping and nursing N took it all in and was such a pleasant little fellow.

He won't sit still!!!
N is so mobile now that it is a miracle if he ever sits still. I like his new found abilities but it does make for much busier days! His legs are so strong and he is always standing up. He doesn't lay in his crib, he stands and babbles and laughs. So scary I tell ya. He pulls up on anything and everything and you would assume that if he has a toy he can stand up on he would be in heaven. Well no such luck. He stands at his standing toy for all of 3 seconds before he is groping his way down the couch. Oh well!
arial views of N playing with his standing toy
Don't let this innocent face fool you, this is only a few short hours after he nearly bathed C in salsa.

8 months, already?
The first 7 months flew by and my little immobile baby has turned into an on the go, bite my dust crawler. Oh well I wouldn't have it any other way. It is amazing to see how strong he has gotten. He is pulling up on any and everything and there is no object that he can't get to once his beautiful eyes spots it. So I have spent the past few weeks moving things, putting things away and getting our home Nico the Crawler ready. Everyday I realize that there is something that I overlooked :) Anyway he is is 8 months old today. I don't think a year has ever flown by so fast before. I am so enjoying our seemingly endless summer days. He is so inquisitive. He loves talking on the phone to his Grammy & Grandpa. He seriously lights up when he hears her voice. He is talking more and more each day. He has even started looking for his Daddy when he hears the house alarm. My baby is brilliant!!!

belated 7 months post

I have actually started this post so many times in my head but it is so hard to put it all in print. Seven months has been such a turning point in Nico's life. He is growing by leaps and bounds and quite frankly I am having a rough time with all of his growth. He is crawling around under foot, talking up a storm, pulling up on everything, being too distracted to nurse and moving more than I could have ever imagined. Yes, logically I know he has to grow but my heart can't take it!!

happiest baby on the block
Anyone who hangs out with N for any period of time knows that he is one happy camper. A full on breakdown is rather rare and 7 months in I can read him pretty well. Keep him dry and fed and he is pretty content. I love how he is always smiling and laughing and just being an overall happy little baby.

Yummy, Yummy to my Tummy!
avocado (really likes this one)
banana (he likes, he likes)
peas
watermelon (not so much)
apples
carrots
sweet potatoes
plums
oatmeal
apple puffs
sweet potato puffs
squash
Today I let him take control of his lunch. He seemed to like the feel of the pureed food on his fingers. He tried to put the bowl in his mouth but he didn't try to throw it though so I was pleased with him. Things got messy but who cares you are only 7 months old once in life!! And yes, he is posing for the pictures...he stopped fooling around when he saw the camera.
