today is the day

My sweetie Nico,

You will be home soon. I am so excited to see you. I can't wait to inspect you and see how much you have grown. I know you will seem bigger than when I last saw you even if you haven't grown an inch. I can't believe that you have mastered the potty without Momma's help! You really are the best. I know you will have so much to tell us: your fishing, seeing animals, playing with your grandparents. We are so proud of you being such a trooper. You slept in the big bed all by your lonesome. You traveled so much and hung out with your extended family. And you managed to keep those grandparents on their toes...just such a big boy.

Your folks are SO looking forward to your arrival. Don't do like your Daddy predicts and refuse all of my kisses. Don't do like your Momma predicts and run right past me looking for Daddy. I know that you will do things your own way and I will be happy with a hug and a kiss or two.

Swimming Lessons

Our little seal is in swimming lessons. I am so glad that his Grammy and Grandpa are taking him because I think I would jump in and rescue him. (My thoughts are something like this: Why is she just standing there and he is underwater? She doesn't seem like she is standing close enough either, How deep is that pool? Do they know he is JUST a baby! ) UGH. My nerves can't take it!!!

Nico is getting the hang of it. He is kicking his legs and moving his arms. Plus he knows he has to make it to the wall. He told me he likes it and so far he has only cried a tiny bit. Yikes! Next week he is getting a different instructor and there is tell of him being thrown into the pool. I am so glad I am miles away while this is going on ;)

I love Skype

I especially love Skype when it allows me to

see Nico in his jammies

play an animal guessing game

see his smile

and hear his laughter,

him making animal sounds

and counting to 20 in English

and 5 in Spanish

it is great to

get kisses blown across the miles

see his eyes light up when he sees his Daddy

and hear him call my name

Skype made my day. I wish there was a way I could kiss those cute lips and get a big hug too. I am super grateful for getting a glimpse of my big baby!

I get my updates about Nico via my mother. She says he is doing well, spends his days running and laughing. Just like at home I suppose. But he said the cutest thing today, he is wearing a shirt that says "Danger Seeker" and when my Momma asked him if he was a danger seeker he replied, "I'm not a Danger Seeker, I am a Happy Seeker!" Aww. I just about died and bought a plane ticket.

Oh and BTW he is in Georgia. Go figure :)

Wow, you are spending time with your grandparents and I am so happy that they are willing and able to love you and spoil you. It seems so strange to not have you running through the house. I haven't had to say "stop running" and hold my breath that you would actually clear the corner :) I miss you so much. The hugs, the love. On Saturday, I forgot you weren't here and actually wondered when you were going to wake up from your nap. You, my sweet, sweet boy have changed everything about me. When I am working or resting, thoughts of you are constant. I wonder how much you will grow and change in the weeks that you are away. Taller, more words, a greater love of coffee.... who knows.

I hope that you are enjoying your time. I miss you dearly.

Nico left for Miami today. 5 weeks with the grandparents. I think someone is going to be well loved!
